  • It's Me Again

    Happy 2008 to All!!!

As some of you know Dan moved to Pennsylvania at the beginning of the month.  He is doing well and having fun.  He was promoted to foreman within the first 2 weeks of being on the job and has been given the prospect of becoming a supervisor within 18 months.  His boss is looking for a full-time nanny and they have asked me to consider the possition.  I am praying about it and looking for the Lord's leading.  Dan and I would be living together and that makes the move less scary.

Have a great week.  Thanks for all your news!!

  • The power is back.  It came back on sometime on Tuesday and was noticed after 9 p.m..  Dan and I were in Indiana visiting family and getting a load of hay and were very happy to come home to a warm bathroom, a clock you can see in the dark, and the gentle whirr of the fans circulating the warm air.  The crews continue to work, the extent of the storm was wide spread.

    Have a great weekend.

I am happy for those of you who have been enjoying the snow from last weeks winter storm, we have a dusting on top of ice.  The trees were beautiful, as you can see.  We felt as though we were living in a glass world, or Narnia during the White Witch's reign.  We have been without power since Thursday evening but have been running the generator during the day with selective priority to each appliance and space heater.  We do have the wood burning stove so there is heat in the dining room and living room but the bedrooms and bathroom get rather chilly.  They predict the return of power within the next couple of days and we are hoping.   I am thankful for the crews that have been doing what they can in the cold.  Grandma has been spending her days here and using a kerosene heater in her room at night.  We are grateful that the ice was not any thicker, as it was, many trees snapped or lost branches, and the roads the next day were passable but trees had to be dodged.  We lost a Sycamore tree that we can see from the house and lots of limbs but no tree that meant anything special and no building were damaged.  Mom's orchard is fine and we are happy that the baby trees made it through.  We have had above freezing temperatures a couple of days so that it is beginning to look like the end of the Witch's rule and Aslan has returned.

By the way, the photos were taken by Emily.  She has become excellent with the camera.  She spent hours in the cold after the storm to capture nature's masterpiece and the cardinals from which she  patiently awaited confidence.  I am so proud of her for developing this hobby.  She is now looking into ways to turn it into a business.

Have a great week and stay warm.
